See details about our new beginner game (99er) on Friday.
Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday there are opportunities to learn to play Bridge. And on Friday, there is a chance for beginners to practice. We use the EasyBridge series as our workbook. Games and Lessons $10. Our teachers are available 15 minutes before each scheduled lesson or beginner game to answer questions.
On Tuesday nights, there is a two hour lesson starting at 6:00pm.
True raw beginners might want to enroll in the “LEARN TO PLAY BRIDGE” classes offered through Clovis Adult Education. (click on the left to visit their site.) Look for their flyer in your mail box. Typically, they start in January, May and August/September and run for eight weeks.
A lesson is also offered at 11:00 am on Saturday. The lesson ends at 11:45 am, allowing students to play in the regularly scheduled beginner game (called a 199er game) which starts at noon. Cost is $10, if you come for the lesson and stay for the game, you can play in the 199er game for FREE. Coffee and snacks available. Lessons might get “bumped” when the club hosts a tournament or over holidays.
New on Wednesdays, a beginner lesson at 1:00, with a Pupil Game. A few minutes on one basic topic, then a short game with a low upper limit of points.
And for beginners, we have an individual 99er game on Friday at 1:00. This is a chance for beginners to play without a partner. Learn and play. That is as good as it gets.
Ways for beginners to play
Beginner GAME on Friday. It is a 0 to 99 masterpoint game on Friday afternoons starting 1:00 pm, proceeded by a Q&A opportunity at 12:45 pm. It is an individual game, so you don’t need a partner. Everyone moves and plays with everyone else.
Another beginner game is the 0 to 199 masterpoint game on Saturday at noon. It is preceded by a lesson that starts at 11:00.
On Wednesdays, there is a pupil game. This is short game for those with few master points. It is preceded by a one topic lesson.
ACBL awards factions of masterpoints to winners of these sanctioned games, so players slowly accumulate masterpoints as they play and improve their skill. The various levels of games is so that beginners can play with those who have their own skill level. The 0 to 99er game, on Fridays, allows beginners to play with beginners. The 0 to 199er game on Saturday at noon is for the next level of skill development. You do not have to be an ACBL member to play in our games, but we keep track of the master points you earn, so that later, if you want to join ACBL, they can be rolled over into your account.
